The two storey extension and alterations provides an additional 140 square metres of living space while also providing a contemporary face-lift to the existing building. Open plan living spaces and a conversion of the upper level from a flat to a raked ceiling was achieved by a systematic use of timber and steel members to ensure the architectural details could be achieved in the most budget friendly way. The rear elevations required the glazing to have minimal interruptions from structural members, so we worked closely with the architect to careful establish the framing and detailing ensuring that we could keep the structural members as low profile as possible.
